 From 11 - 12 May 2016, I had the pleasure of co-organizing with Ambassador Ken Yalowitz and Craig Zelizer (Program for Conflict Resolutions, Georgetown University) an intense two-day workshop to bridge perspectives and experiences from practitioners and scholars in the field of peace and security studies. The workshop brought together 40 policy-makers (from NATO, the EU, UN, national ministries, the US , Belgian and Swedish militaries and NGOs) as well as European and US scholars to debate the gaps and communalities in the areas of transatlantic approaches to major security threats, practitioner-scholar dialogue and between the disciplines of peace and security studies.
The workshop served as a kick-off event for a wider research network co-lead by Vesalius College and Georgetown University on bridging the scholar-practitioner divide.

During college, we were tasked by our professor to conduct a workshop about Media and Information Literacy. She made us do the workshop because everyone needs to be literate when it comes to Media. In the digitally-driven society of the 21st-century, most people would easily believe on the fake or satirical news. Therefore, Media and Information Literacy Workshop should be conducted in an academic institution of higher learning. Opportunities like this is so rare nowadays that is why I am so proud of those students who take their chances and give their best shot. When I was still studying, I remember the struggle of looking for opportunities like this. There will come a time that you will have to be an intern and work with a stranger company. It is so hard to work with people you do not know and people who are competitive enough to make you a better version of yourself.
